Las Vegas Raiders defensive tackle Christian Wilkins said he’s “living his childhood dream” as an NFL player.
Las Vegas Raiders defensive tackle Christian Wilkins has had a successful NFL career so far, but he’s just getting started.
The former Miami Dolphin is ready to make new memories with the Silver and Black, an organization he will be hoping can elevate his game.
With great things ahead, though, Wilkins can still look back on fond memories he has made so far in his NFL career, particularly the ones from early on.
“Obviously getting drafted, that’s No. 1,” Wilkins said when discussing his favorite NFL moments on a recent episode of the “Third and Long” podcast. “It’s the start, it’s the foundation. Obviously, you don’t forget things like your first career sack. Like obviously, that’s important as a defensive lineman — Nov. 1, 2019, my first career sack.
” … Our first win of the season, too. It was Week 8. … Things like that, you don’t forget as a player.
“And really just the journey, though. I know that might sound a little cliche, might sound a little corny, but no, it really is. It’s just about the journey for me. I’m literally living my childhood dream.
“And I’m in the moment, I’m enjoying every minute of it, the good days the bad days, the tough days, the days where you don’t want to [work]. All of that; it’s just all part of it. I’m literally living out my childhood dream, so I’ve got perspective on that.
“Sometimes I do get caught up and so locked in and whatever. But it’s good to have perspective, and the journey’s dope.”
As Wilkins said, to him, the journey is what makes it all worth it. The star defensive tackle is now looking forward to a new chapter in his journey as he nears the day he suits up for an NFL franchise that isn’t Miami.
Wilkins has many more memories to make, and Raider Nation could not be more excited to watch him do so as a valuable member of their beloved Silver and Black. The new beginning is right around the corner.
