If there was ever a debate regarding who is the greatest TE of all time, we know who Alex Smith would pick. In a recent conversation posted by @CooperMcCoyRe on X, Amith revealed the pick as well as how they managed to achieve this title. According to the former Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith, TE Travis Kelce’s historic success could be significantly attributed to his perfect alignment with HC Andy Reid and QB Patrick Mahomes.
Smith and Kelce had both joined the Chiefs in the same year (2013), and the former QB played all of his five seasons with the Chiefs with Travis as his TE. There’s no doubt that his assessment of him comes both from personal experience and what he has seen since his retirement from football.

Smith praised Reid for his ability to embrace and utilize the distinct personalities of his players rather than confining them.“He doesn’t try to put guys in a box. He never tried to squash Travis’s personality, on and off the field.” Smith recounted, “I had never seen a tight end break into choreographed dance when he scored touchdowns, and now, it’s just another thing we see from Travis.”
“Travis Kelce is the best receiving Tight End of all-time” – Alex Smith
On the money. Andy Reid is a perfect fit for most players because he lets them be them and does not force them to be part of a “system”.

Smith also pointed out that Kelce’s adaptability and instincts have been crucial in his successful partnership with Mahomes. Their connection on the field, fueled by mutual trust and understanding, enables Kelce to make plays that defy the usual patterns, often leading to spectacular results. “There were times he’s supposed to break out and he doesn’t, but he’s open,” Smith recalled.
However, Smith posited that without the unique environment provided by Reid and the synergy with Mahomes, Kelce might not have reached the heights he has. “It really is this great marriage there with Andy Reid and Patrick and him, that’s really seen him become, I don’t think it’s really an argument anymore, the greatest receiving tight end,” he stated emphatically.
He may break into choreographed dances on the field, but when it comes to his off-field life, he is just as jovial. And his recent vacation with Taylor Swift gave us a glimpse of his romantic side.
Travis Kelce lifts Taylor Swift at Coachella
Taylor Swift found a delightful way to fill a “Blank Space” in her schedule by catching Jack Antonoff and his band Bleachers in action at Coachella. With her ongoing Eras Tour on a two-month hiatus, Swift has been soaking up the vibrant Los Angeles scene alongside her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
The pair were spotted grooving discreetly beside the stage during Bleachers’ performance, later meandering through the crowd to enjoy Ice Spice’s electrifying “Karma (Remix).” But the musical journey didn’t end there. Taylor and Travis were also seen cozying up during DJ Dom Dolla’s set, immersed in the festival’s electric atmosphere. They shared intimate moments, with Kelce also playfully lifting Swift into the air as she held a drink, captured in a snapshot by a festival-goer.
This outing isn’t just a leisure break for the couple; it’s a prelude to more musical adventures. Kelce is gearing up to host Kelce Jam, a music event in Kansas City on May 18. Meanwhile, Swift is preparing for the release of her 11th album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” before resuming her tour in Stockholm, Sweden. Together, they’re making the most of their time off, blending music, romance, and shared experiences in the festival lights.
