Bravo is really raiding the New York fashion scene for reality fodder lately.
In the last couple of years J. Crew’s superstar of chic, Jenna Lyons, and street-wear trailblazer Leah McSweeney of Married to the Mob have both appeared on the network’s “Real Housewives of New York City.”
Now Page Six hears that It-bag artist Rebecca Minkoff has been filming for the show as well.
Sources tells us that, while the veteran designer has been shooting with the cast, it’s not yet clear — even to Bravo — how big a part she’ll play in the show.
She may become a full member of the cast for next season, or she could be a recurring guest star on the reality staple.
But we’re told that news of her involvement is already fomenting disquiet in the Bravo-verse.
Minkoff is a longtime Scientologist and has many prominent friends in the controversial church.
In fact, she has credited famed follower of L. Ron Hubbard, Jenna Elfman, with kick-starting her career by wearing one of her shirts during a 2001 appearance on Leno.
But Minkoff — who made her fortune as a designer with the Morning After Bag in the Mid-Aughts, which was toted by stars of the era including Lauren Conrad, Hillary Duff and Hayden Panettiere — is something of a rarity among the many bold-face members of the church, because she’s willing to talk about it.
“I’m totally open,” she told the New York Times in 2021, when it asked her why she hadn’t addressed her beliefs in her self-help book “Fearless,” “But it’s not my job to proselytize.”
So we think it’s a safe bet that the church will be the subject of a screaming match or two when her appearances make it to the air.
Meanwhile, we hear that a photograph of Minkoff posing at her LA store opening in 2015 with fellow Scientologist, “That 70s Show” star Danny Masterson — who is now serving time for rape — is already being texted among show insiders.
