Candiace Dillard Bassett claimed producers wanted her to hold back at the Real Housewives of Potomac reunion, addressed why she quit, and hinted at what it would take for her to return.
The alum also addressed her pregnancy with husband Chris Bassett – and if they’re planning on having more.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Candiace shared she’s about 13 weeks and three days into the pregnancy, and she’s “just about into the second trimester.”
She addressed how Chris told her they would have a baby by the time he was 50 (he’s now 46). Chris, who was also in the interview, claimed their doctors know the gender, but he and Candiace aren’t aware, and they want to keep it a “surprise.”
Regarding if they’ll have more children, Candiace shared they have “another embryo in the freezer,” but she’s “taking it day by day” – and they’re considering a “surrogate” for the next one.
She said the pregnancy “95 percent” affected her decision to walk away from RHOP, as she was “adamant” about creating a “free” and “peaceful” space for the child without any “added pressure” from the show.
“It was kind of a no-brainer,” said Candiace, who said the “space would have to be different” for her to consider returning in the future – but it’d be “fun” to do a spinoff with her and her family.
Her “hope” for the show is that castmates “un-sync” themselves and have a “dynamic shift.”
“I do think that I maybe took a sort of different approach at this reunion at the request of the network to try and be less vitriolic and more in a space and a spirit of moving forward,” she added. “And there were things that I would have said had I not been given those directives. But at this juncture, it just feels moot. It feels like there isn’t anything else to say. I am so removed mentally from [it].”
