Real Housewives of Atlanta alum NeNe Leakes says she’s okay with her man cheating as long as he cheats “respectfully.” Really? I don’t recall that being the advice she gave Porsha Williams a few years back when her co-star was suspected of dating a married man. I seem to remember NeNe calling Porsha a “whore.” Or maybe that was NayNay. I could be confused.
During an Instagram Live video obtained by TMZ, NeNe explained that women in Atlanta may have to stoop to sharing due to the limited dating pool of straight men. NeNe’s cool with her man being unfaithful, though, as long as he’s respectful about it.
“Respectful cheating, I could deal with that,” she told Carlos King in the video. “If I’m here in Georgia, and you went to San Francisco for the weekend, I’m saying … what you don’t know, it won’t hurt you.” Unless it brings home an STD or an unplanned child. That could be hurtful.
Rules for the “side piece”
In a conversation that begins around the 2:10 mark, The New Normal star went on to explain how people with a “side piece” can be disrespectful.
Apparently, “The ones that aren’t respectful [are] talking to the side piece and lying to them,” NeNe elaborated. “If you’re going to be respectful, you tell that person [to stay] 50 feet [away from] my woman. Like, don’t ever approach me when you see me with my woman.”
While he was unsure how to react at first, Carlos eventually warmed up to NeNe’s perspective. He added that the “side chick” should never “call my phone saying, ‘Put my man on the phone!’” Side chicks should know their place and respect boundaries.
In addition, side pieces should never post photos on social media with your man. “Keep your side piece in check,” NeNe insisted.
Hopefully, NeNe’s advice to cheaters was all tongue in cheek, but it did stir up a reaction with her fans. Most of them held to the conviction that cheating on someone you love is still cheating, even if you try to disguise it as “respectful.” You can’t put lipstick on a pig. Girl, bye!
NeNe is currently dating Nyonisela Sioh, with whom she went public in December 2021. She was previously married to Gregg Leakes, who passed away from colon cancer a few months prior.
