The RHOBH cast member reflects on “one of the lowest times” in her life while dealing with Tom Girardi’s issues.
Since Season 11 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, fans have watched Erika Jayne navigate through the aftermath of her estranged husband Tom Girardi’s personal issues. Most recently on the Bravo special, Erika Jayne: Bet It All on Blonde, she opened up about “starting over” in life without Tom by her side, and now we are learning more about the hardships Erika faced in the past few years.
In the latest episode of Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast (clip above), Erika sat down with host Alex Baskin to reflect on her marriage and the scrutiny that came along with it. During the discussion, Erika also noted that her situation was “like” what Kyle Richards experienced in her relationship on Season 13 of RHOBH.
Erika Jayne explains the “lowest” point in her life when dealing with Tom Girardi’s issues
As Erika looked back on her marriage, Alex mentioned how it was “speculation” that she joined RHOBH because she was already aware of Tom’s career issues. However, Erika quickly shut down those notions, saying, “You’ve got to be crazy.”
She continued: “It would be so much easier to have been quiet and wealthy over there, and it would’ve just been a bad legal story, as opposed to putting yourself out there on Housewives and everything else that comes with it.”
Erika also shared with Alex that having her problems with Tom being filmed on the series made her feel like she “could never get away from it,” and it was “one of the lowest times” in her life.

Despite those tough times, Erika explained in the Hot Mic podcast interview that no one knows “what it’s like” to be on a reality TV show, unless you’re doing it. She then goes on to namedrop Kyle and how they went through a similar experience on RHOBH, as they had to talk about their marriage woes on camera as it was happening in real time.
“It’s like what Kyle is going through now – this is happening you guys,” Erika added. “Sh-t is, I remember just being cornered in a f-cking ugly stairwell and just being asked all these questions on my day off just trying to go to the grocery store. It just doesn’t feel good.”
