The Real Housewives of Orange County star Shannon Beador has always struck viewers as a bit odd. When fans first met Shannon, she was a devoted wife and crystal-burying mom who lived quite a fancy life. However, her fall from grace began when she found out her husband, David Beador, had cheated on her. Since 2017, Shannon has been on a downhill trajectory, which all culminated with her alleged DUI hit and run recently.
Even though Shannon seems remorseful, cue the crying at BravoCon; nothing really has changed for the star. She is still spotted out with friends and her local haunts and is treated with kid gloves as if nothing has happened. Shannon has had a lot going on in her life, including a break up with her long-time boyfriend, John Janssen. However, there is no excuse for her continued spiral with fans thinking she may need actual help. Unfortunately, Bravo isn’t doing her any favors.
Shannon Liked a Cocktail, and Bravo Obliged

It was never in question that Shannon enjoyed a drink or two, especially at her local pub, The Quiet Woman. But it soon became apparent that she overindulged, which made for great TV moments but not-so-great morning after wake-ups.
For years, no matter what Bravo franchise you chose to watch, alcohol has flown freely. In fact, most viewers expect to see the cast drink to excess. Bravo has a way of creating an atmosphere that compels the women to drink, and it isn’t a healthy environment for Shannon.
Thanks to the reality TV reckoning, more and more former cast members are coming forward, with some revealing in Page Six that the network has a significant problem on its hands. Some have claimed the production team often pressured them into drinking on camera. If you are a housewife with a crisis, this sort of behavior would only exacerbate an existing problem and feed addiction.
Shannon Was Depressed, and Bravo Loved It

Not one person can blame Shannon for having a period where she became depressed. She was a mother of three little girls who had just found out her husband had cheated on her even after a vow renewal. While a normal job would have cut Shannon some slack, Bravo took advantage of the carnage and made sure to film every meltdown. During Season 13, Shannon opened up to cameras, noting, “David’s shown quite a bit of anger towards me.”
Since the separation, Shannon has had multiple meltdowns regarding her divorce and 40lb weight gain. I would wager that almost every second was caught by Bravo cameras, including her ripping off her various layers of Spanx. Shannon’s pity party reached a new low in Jamacia when she was called out for mistreating everyone throughout her divorce and told she needed medication.
Shannon’s meltdown was so intense that production should have stepped in to help her instead of continuing to film her.
Shannon Didn’t Really Go to Rehab
After her DUI arrest in September, Shannon was sentenced to three years probation and community service. Yet her brush with a brick wall hasn’t seemed to change her relationship with booze. Shannon chose to enroll in an outpatient behavioral wellness program with an alcohol component, which seemed like a slap in the face to the law officials and her dog, Archie, who was also on the wild ride.
While speaking on The Sarah Fraser Show, Gina Kirschenheiter shared some hard truths about Shannon’s possible addiction. “Look, I have heard she’s still drinking,” Gina claimed. “I don’t like to comment on things I don’t know for a fact, but has anyone asked her if she’s stopped drinking? I was surprised no one asked her at BravoCon if she quit drinking because I don’t think she has.”
Bravo has yet to fire the Tres Amigas member, and it very much feels like they are rewarding her for her bad behavior. Honestly, Shannon’s behavior is very troubling, and most fans are concerned. The fact that the network has kept her around for ratings seems like an act of enabling. With Shannon still very much a Bravo housewife, the position most likely hinders her from seeking treatment and making changes in her life.
