Sonja Morgan is a cornerstone of Real Housewives of New York. She’s the straw that stirs the drink and no one does it quite like Sonjarita. Sonja is responsible for so many iconic moments throughout the show’s history. In fact, her infamous Upper East Side townhouse is a character all of its own.
Sonja and her townhouse might be one of the most toxic relationships on Bravo. She’s been stuck with the property since we first met her. The famed townhouse is the site of Sonja’s legendary queer-friendly parties and plenty of chaotic RHONY dinners. Now, at long last, Sonja might be parting ways with the iconic place.
Sonja’s townhouse is ready for a new chapter
According to the New York Post, Sonja is putting her townhouse up for auction next month. Any RHONY fan knows that Sonja has tried (and failed) several times in the past to sell the house. Most recently, it was listed for $7.5 million.
Now, Sonja is taking a different approach. Concierge Auctions and Adam Modlin of the Modlin Group will auction off the five-story home. The sale will open on May 15 and close on May 29. There’s no minimum bid, but it’s expected to range between $1.75 million and $3.75 million. If one lucky Bravo fan is sitting on a pot of gold, they should jump on the offer.
The townhouse has five bedrooms, five-and-a-half bathrooms, a gym, a sauna, and a lifetime of memories from the one and only Sonja with a Sexy J. “In addition to raising my daughter here, we entertained heads of state, royalty, luminaries, and Fortune 500 CEOs,” Sonja said in a statement. “Now, as an empty nester, I am ready to share this turnkey, easy-to-manage jewel over to someone new to enjoy as we did.”
Sonja added that the auction allows for the townhouse to sell at market value promptly. “It’s now finally the time to take advantage of the moment,” Sonja added. Why are we getting emotional over this? It’s undoubtedly the end of an era, but the start of an exciting new chapter for Sonja.
