When Kandi Burruss announced her Real Housewives of Atlanta departure, she didn’t know she’d get such strong reactions from Bravo’s biggest star, Andy Cohen.
“He was super sad, which I was like, I don’t know how I expected him to feel,” Kandi told Us Weekly. “I didn’t know that he cared that much.” Uh, duh, he cared! Not only is Kandi one of the most popular Housewives the franchise has ever seen, but she is also one of the longest-running EVER.
But despite her exit leaving a huge gap in RHOA’s all-star lineup, the Bravo vet assured Andy and Co. that they would “figure it out.”
Andy made Kandi cry after she told him she was leaving the series…
When Kandi decided to leave, she said Andy gave her a call to make sure this was the move she wanted to follow through with.
“Basically, we had a long heart-to-heart, and he made me get teary-eyed, honestly, because at first, I’m just like, OK, yeah, I’m onto the next,” she recalled. “And then he’s saying all these things, making me feel like, dang, did I make the right choice?”
The Grammy winner said her conversation with Bravo’s head honcho made her feel “special.” She also appreciated that he showed her a major amount of love on his radio show, Andy Cohen Live. “I feel like we really developed a good relationship based off of just us having a relationship,” she said.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Kandi has had positive things to say about Andrew. The No Scrubs writer defended her boss earlier this year after several negative allegations surrounding him hit the Bravosphere. “… don’t believe the hype,” she said. “I mean, he may not be perfect, but he’s definitely tried to look out.”
