Jesse Palmer is sharing his support for former Golden Bachelor couple Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist after their shock divorce announcement.
The Bachelor host, 45, addressed the pair’s split on Instagram on April 12 as he posted a photo of himself with Turner, 74, and Nist, 70, at the season 28 finale taping of the show.
“My heart is forever with these two beautiful souls ❤️,” Palmer began his caption. “I am eternally grateful to have gotten to know Gerry and Theresa and to have been a small part of their journey.”
He continued, “I learned a lot about life, love and family watching and talking with them. Wishing them and their families both nothing but happiness 🙏🏼.”
Turner and Nist took Bachelor viewers by surprise after announcing their divorce on April 12. The split comes just three months after the pair tied the knot in a televised “Golden wedding” on Golden Bachelor.
Speaking in a joint interview on Good Morning America, Turner said, “Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation and so forth, and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage.”
The former couple then admitted in the interview their apprehension at announcing the news after their relationship on the show inspired other singles in their 70s searching for love.
“We have received so much love and support from so many people who watch the Golden Bachelor and I don’t think we can tell you how many people told us it gave them so much hope,” Nist said. “We want none of that to change for anybody.”
And while the pair shared on GMA that they have not fallen out of love, they explained in the interview that distance proved the final breaking point in their relationship — with Turner residing in Indiana while Nist remained in New Jersey.
Back in November, Turner gave his final rose to Nist on the season finale of Golden Bachelor after joining the show following the death of his wife Toni. Nist accepted Yurner’s flower and proposal and the pair married in a televised wedding special on Jan. 4.
Palmer’s show of support for the former couple comes as Turner’s ex on the show, Faith Martin, also offered her well wishes.
She told PEOPLE, “My heart goes out to both of them. It’s a very difficult situation, and I think it is important to realize that on a show like this, it’s so important to be so transparent and so much yourself filled with honesty and truth and ask those right questions.”
PEOPLE reached out to reps for Turner and Nist for comment. No divorce paperwork has been filed yet, but the two did have a prenup, according to GMA.
The Golden Bachelor is now streaming on Hulu.
