Former Below Deck star Kate Chastain believes The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip star Vicki Gunvalson is overrated. Kate is famous for her appearance on the Bravo reality series. She started during Below Deck season 2 and was the chief steward, known for her no-nonsense attitude and wicked sense of humor. Kate starred on Below Deck for six seasons before leaving in February 2020. Meanwhile, Vicki made her reality TV debut in 2006, starring on The Real Housewives of Orange County and helping to popularize the show before she was fired after 14 seasons. Since leaving RHOC, Vicki joined RHUGT season 2.

Vicki is undoubtedly one of the most influential women in the Real Housewives franchise. However, Below Deck’s Kate Chastain, a respected Bravolebrity, believes Vicki is overrated. While speaking on the Virtual Reali-Tea podcast, Kate, who stars on Peacock’s new show The Traitors, explained why she felt Vicki is the most overrated Real Housewives star. She said, “Vicki Gunvalson, I don’t get it. I’m sorry. I just feel like she’s always angry and always screaming.” Kate based her assessment of Vicki on the latter’s performance on RHUGT: Ex-Wives Club, which was filmed at Dorinda Medley’s Bluestone Manor Estate in the Berkshires in fall 2021 and finished airing in 2022. In that season of RHUGT, Vicki had a difficult time following her messy split from her ex-fiancé, Steve Lodge.

Kate Chastain Hopes Vicki Gunvalson Can Change In RHUGT Season 4

The breakup affected Vicki’s behavior, causing her to act weirdly. However, Vicki has since moved on from that phase and is now dating her boyfriend, Michael. She is currently filming RHUGT season 4 in Marrakech, Morocco, and filmed the upcoming season of RHOC, though not as a main cast member or “friend of.” With Vicki in love again, Kate expressed happiness for her but noted she has to do more to win her over. The Below Deck alum explained, “I mean, I’m happy for her that she’s now going to Marrakech for a redo because, you know, she was vulnerable at that time in Bluestone Manor. So, hopefully, after this new Girls Trip, I will change my opinion.” Kate concluded by asserting that “Vicki needs to change her vibe.”

It is understandable why Kate feels the way she does about Vicki. Watching Vicki’s onscreen behavior during RHUGT season 2 in Dorinda’s iconic home was hard. However, one must not forget that Vicki was going through a difficult breakup that affected her mentally. People react differently to such situations; in her case, she allowed it to get to her and affect her relationship with others. Now that Vicki has put that phase behind her and is in a happy relationship, she is expected to put in a better showing in RHUGT season 4.

Having said that, it is hard not to wonder what Vicki thinks about Kate’s comments. Although she is busy filming the next season of RHUGT in North Africa, she may have heard about Kate’s words and is probably itching to get back at her. However, as of now, neither Vicki nor her representatives have responded to the comments. However, if the former Below Deck star should ever appear in a RHUGT season and cross paths with Vicki, there is every possibility that it could end up being a showdown.
