It’s been over a decade since the bitter divorce between Real Housewives of New York alum Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy began. They welcomed a daughter named Bryn in 2010 before separating two years later. The reality TV entrepreneur then filed for divorce in 2013.
Their relationship was documented on RHONY and Bethenny Ever After. Then, it all turned to tabloid fodder as the warring parties sparred in court for many years. But it’s finally coming to an end. And Bethenny is now opening up about the relationship.
Bethenny noted Jason’s dating trends
Bethenny honored a whole new podcast just to discuss her legal proceedings called Just B Divorced.
During the premiere episode, which aired on YouTube on April 15, Beth discussed the night she first met her ex-husband. And touched upon a few red flags that were more apparent in hindsight.
Bethenny was out with fellow reality TV star NeNe Leakes and some of her friends. Jason attended the same party with a Sports Illustrated model, who was a RHONY fan.
“I ended up meeting him and, [this] could be perceived as a red flag or as something admirable but, […] that night I had a driver for the night and [Jason’s] car was downtown near the club but he pretended that it wasn’t so he could ride with me uptown,” Bethenny revealed. “And then he asked the driver to take him back downtown to get his car so that he could go home. So it could either be endearing that he wanted to hang out with me, or a lie and that he really wanted to hang out with me because his friend knew who I was.”
The BStrong founder pointed out that Jason seemed to be pursuing fame by dating another reality TV star before meeting her. Bethenny only found out about her ex’s dating trends after they were together. She did not disclose the woman’s identity.
“He had already dated someone that his parents didn’t approve of but that was on another reality show,” she said.
Bethenny admitted that finding out about her predecessor felt like it “presented as some version of a red flag to me.”
This podcast will be one to follow. And Bethenny knows how to court controversy with her podcasts. She notably had Vanderpump Rules alum Rachel Leviss on to discuss her cheating scandal with former co-star Tom Sandoval.
