There are many things you can say about Chris Bassett, but you have to commend him on the fact that he is always supportive of his wife, Candiace Dillard Bassett. Her mouth lands her into trouble, both on and off of Real Housewives of Potomac. No matter what, he’s always ready to defend her.
Candiace’s most recent controversy arrived the other day when she commented on being fearful of having “light-skinned” babies. Obviously, that caught people off guard. We know what her husband looks like, and they have been on RHOP talking about wanting to have kids.
To defend his wife, Chris called into the Way Up With Angela Yee radio show, where Candiace is currently working as a guest host. He said he didn’t understand why everyone was so taken aback by his wife’s comments and tried to add a little bit of color to what she was trying to communicate.

“I don’t know why everybody is so angry right now. My Twitter is blowing up,” Chris claimed.
“Candiace and I have had this conversation since, probably the day we met,” he continued. “People can have their preferences.”
During the phone call, Chris shared that he and Candiace have been joking about their skin color preferences for years. He noted that his wife is well aware of the fact that “she’s not getting dark-skinned babies.” Chris explained that it’s not “scientifically possible.”
According to Chris, there’s no reason for people to get worked up over Candiace’s comments. He said he has a hard time even understanding why people would be upset. He compared her comment about not wanting her kids to be a certain skin color to his desire for his kids to have “luscious thick hair.”
Chris pontificated, “I started going bald at eighteen. Is it bad for me to say that I want my kids to have hair?”
