Shereé Whitfield’s son Kairo Whitfield welcomed a little girl last July, making the RHOA star a first-time grandparent, but don’t call her “grandma.”
Shereé Whitfield from The Real Housewives of Atlanta finally introduced her first grandchild to the masses, as her son Kairo Whitfield, 27, and his girlfriend Alina Baber welcomed their daughter Mecca Joie Whitfield last July. Shereé was an original cast member from RHOA season 1. However, she left after just four seasons due to the high levels of cattiness within the cast. After taking several years off, Shereé returned to film RHOA seasons 8-10 before stepping back again, this time to focus on her fashion line. A passion project of sorts, She by Shereé took Shereé Whitfield 14 seasons to develop, launching only when Shereé returned for RHOA season 14.
Now Shereé is launching a different passion project, her granddaughter Mecca, into this world.
In an interview with People, Shereé gushed, “She’s adorable; the sweetest, cutest little girl. She has the curliest hair, the best smile and is such a happy baby. I’m excited when I see her, but when we see each other, she gets so, so excited. It melts your heart!” Now that little Mecca is nearing her 1st birthday, Shereé reflected on her granddaughter’s first year of life, stating, “It’s been so special to have her in our family, and it gets more and more special every day as I watch her grow.”
RHOA Star Shereé Whitfield Rejects “Grandma” Title
As for what Mecca will call Shereé, the RHOA star was quick to reject the title of grandma, stressing, “I’m not a grandma. Let’s make sure we get the word right. It’s Glam-ma!” Joking that rocking chairs and knitting are not for her, she exclaimed, “I’m a Glam-ma. And she’ll call me GG, which stands for Gorgeous Glam-ma. I’m starting a new trend for grandmas: hot grandmas!” Finally, sharing a sweet photo, Shereé wrote, “On this special day, I would like to Introduce u to my glam baby @meccawhitfield. U thought ur love for your kids was strong, just wait until you become a glamma.”
Shereé’s been unlucky during her RHOA run. Her first season came on the heels of a divorce from former football pro Bob Whitfield, the father of two of her three children. In her RHOA return, Shereé’s breakup with Tyrone Gilliams played out. Tyrone was just released from prison for fraud, but he famously ghosted Shereé in an episode that June. Their relationship deteriorated. Now Shereé is in another concerning relationship with Martell Holt from Love & Marriage: Huntsville. Martell has a history of cheating. During the currently airing RHOA season 15, Kenya claims Martell is in her DM’s. Hopefully, Shereé gets this sorted out before bestowing any “step-grandpa” titles out.
Though many of the women attempted to speak truths to Shereé over her boyfriends’ checkered history during the RHOA season 15 premiere, Shereé and Martell are still an item. However, the tempers are already at an all-time high among the cast due to Martell’s inability to remain monogamous, as many of the housewives fear that Shereé is setting herself up for heartbreak yet again. Thankfully, Shereé’s new granddaughter is at least one positive storyline, though how often little Mecca will be featured remains to be seen. For Shereé’s sake, hopefully RHOA season 15 will end in happiness, however that may look.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs Sundays at 8 p.m. EDT on Bravo.
