The Vanderpump Rules cast member talked about returning to Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant — and he wasn’t the only one considering it.
When Vanderpump Rules viewers first met Tom Sandoval, he was a bartender at SUR. But Tom has since started his own hospitality ventures, including becoming a junior partner in Tom Tom and later opening Schwartz & Sandy’s with Tom Schwartz.
However, in the video above, Sandoval joked about going back to his bartending days at Lisa Vanderpump’s iconic restaurant.
In the Vanderpump Rules Season 11 After Show video above, Jax Taylor opens up about his strained relationship with Lisa, noting he has not spoken to her since their tense reunion seen on Season 11, Episode 13 of the show.
“I’m open to it now because we squashed [our issues],” Jax says. “She’s busy. We’re busy. I don’t go to Hollywood that much, either. I don’t make myself available for her to see me or anything like that.”
Schwartz jokingly asks Jax, “Are you gonna ask for your job back at SUR?”
While the former bartender laughs and tries to move on from the question, Sandoval quips, “I might have to.” Schwartz then chimes in, “I know. Me too, dude.”
Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz open up about their finances
Although the Toms didn’t give more context for their joking responses about going back to SUR, both have been open this season about their financial woes. On Season 11, Episode 12, Sandoval explained why he was having second thoughts about keeping the house he shared with Ariana Madix after offering to buy her out.
“If I have to refinance, it would be more than double of what I’m currently paying,” he said.
Later in the episode, he asked Schwartz to move into the house (and pay him $6,000 in monthly rent), but Schwartz quickly turned down the offer.
“I can not in good conscience put [$6,000] toward something that I’m not going to get a return on,” he explained. “I’m not building equity in here.”
In Episode 13, which aired on April 23, the subject came up again, and Schwartz echoed similar statements. “[I] can’t afford that,” he told Sandoval. When his longtime friend disagreed, Schwartz declared, “Dude, the bar [Schwartz & Sandy’s] almost ruined me.”
“I just want to make sound financial decisions from here on out,” he added in an interview during the episode. “I mean, the last high-stakes venture I did with Sandoval, you know, it’s kind of still haunting me to this day.”
In the same episode, Schwartz spoke about the idea with Ariana and explained, “I can’t afford it. After Tom refinances, it’s a huge loan. It’s like 10 percent.”
