Now that Crystal Kung Minkoff is walking away from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Kyle Richards is giving her two cents — and opening up about her own future on the show.
During an Amazon Live session on Wednesday, April 17, Richards reacted to the news of Kung Minkoff’s departure while answering question from fans.
“It made me sad, of course… I don’t know, I have kind of mixed feelings. Not because of her, just because… It’s probably disappointing but also like life’s great without reality television, too,” Richards, 55, said of the Real Coco founder. “So it’s not like, ‘Oh my god, poor Crystal!'”
“She has a great family, and there’s a lot of say for not doing [the show],” she added. “She’s gonna be great.”
Earlier this week, Kung Minkoff announced she would not be returning to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills ahead of its upcoming 14th season. The mom of two joined the Beverly Hills-based franchise in 2021 for season 11.
At the time, she immediately began butting heads with Sutton Stracke. One of the former foes turned pals’ arguments centered around confronting racial stereotypes. She also opened up about her eating disorder struggles and ongoing familial dynamics.
“I just wanted to share the news that I will not be coming back to film season 14 of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. It’s very bittersweet,” Kung Minkoff, 41, said in her video post. “Never did I think I would have been asked to do the show in a million years, let alone film it for three seasons. Every single year I was asked back, it was a blessing. It was an honor.”
Elsewhere in her Live, Richards got candid about her future on the Bravo show and revealed that she hadn’t made a decision about returning.
“I haven’t said anything yet,” she explained. “I know there are reports online that I’m not coming back, or that I am coming back. That conversation is TBD.”
This isn’t the first time the Halloween Ends actress has addressed rumors of her departure. In March, Richards admitted that she had a tumultuous time on season 13.
“People keep asking me, ‘Are you going to come back? Are you going to leave?’” she told Extra. “It’s always something I decide last minute, sort of.”
“I think this season, particularly, because I had been so under the microscope, not just with the cast, but in the public eye. It’s been very challenging to navigate through that when I’m just trying to figure out my life myself,” she said, referencing her marital troubles with husband Mauricio Umansky.
In July 2023, a source close to Richards and Umansky told PEOPLE that the couple had chosen to separate after 27 years of marriage.
“Kyle and Mauricio have been separated for a while now but are still living under the same roof,” the insider said at the time. “They remain amicable as they figure out what’s next for them and their family.”
The two were seen working their issues out throughout season 13 of RHOBH, and while they have not announced any plans to divorce, Richards and Umansky have both been outspoken about how they’re working through things, but the future of their marriage is uncertain.
