The RHOBH cast member praised her daughters’ handling of her marriage separation: “They really have been taking care of me.”
Kyle Richards is one proud and appreciative momma.
Since announcing her separation from Mauricio Umansky last year, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills mom has been quite open about the situation and its impact on her four children. Although she previously described the split as “really, really devastating for the whole family,” Kyle has managed to get through the challenging time with the help of her daughters: Alexia, Sophia, and Portia Umansky, as well as her oldest child, Farrah Brittany, whom she shares with an ex-husband.
Kyle spoke about her family’s support during a recent red-carpet interview with Entertainment Tonight, roughly nine months after she and Mauricio clarified the state of their marriage.
Kyle Richards says her kids have been an “unbelievable source of support”
“They just have been the most unbelievable source of support for me,” Kyle said about her daughters during an April 10 charity gala. “It’s funny because I am the mom, but they are giving me advice and they’re just so smart and so together.”
She continued: “Obviously, as a mom, I worry about them first. But they really have been taking care of me, too. These have been some of my most proud moments as a mom, honestly. How they’ve handled all this.”
Kyle Richards’ daughters were a “deciding factor” in her marital split
Kyle shed more light on her familial changes in a February interview on the TODAY show, saying her daughters were a “big deciding factor” in her separation.
“I got to a point in my life where I’m not getting any younger and there’s certain things I didn’t want in my life anymore,” she told the hosts. “And because [Mauricio and I] do love each other and we did not have a toxic relationship and we get along, it made it even harder. I had to analyze this and say, ‘Would I want this for my daughters?’ They’re at an age now where some of them are getting engaged or have serious boyfriends. Would I accept that for them? The answer was no. And I thought, ‘Why am I treating myself any differently?’”
How Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky’s split affected Farrah Brittany
Months after Kyle and Mauricio’s split, Farrah revealed she had called off her engagement to Alex Manos, a luxury car dealer who popped the question in late 2021. The real estate agent addressed her relationship issues in an episode of Buying Beverly Hills, explaining how her parents’ separation affected her outlook on marriage.
“Honestly, my views on marriage are so f-cking f-cked up right now. It’s the last thing I’m thinking about… I have had to re-think everything,” she said before referencing her mom and stepdad’s 30-year romance. “I mean, the prime couple that’s set the bar for everything, for everyone, and the whole world, I don’t know what’s going to happen, but that’s not working.”
