The Kansas City Chiefs are less than a week away from the start of their voluntary offseason workout program, but several players have already gathered with star QB Patrick Mahomes in Texas to get a headstart.

Last week, we saw Hollywood Brown and several others join Mahomes at Colleyville Heritage High School in Colleyville, Texas for a throwing session. Chiefs fans took note of some of the players who weren’t among those in attendance, most notably WR Kadarius Toney. He responded to that criticism on his Instagram story, sharing a picture of him working out on the bench press.

This time around, he left no room for criticism. Toney has officially joined his teammates down in Texas. He was spotted in the background of a video shared on Brown’s Instagram feed. Our friend Cole DeRuse of HBTC fame shared a screengrab of the picture.

Toney enters his third season with the Chiefs in 2024 coming off a disappointing year. He appeared in 13 games with two starts, catching 27 passes for 169 yards, and one score during a 2023 NFL season marred by dropped passes and inconsistency. He was inactive for the final three games of the regular season and did not appear in any of the team’s postseason games through Super Bowl LVIII.

Getting off on the right foot this year could be vital for Toney and his future in the franchise. Injury kept him out of parts of the preseason and training camp in 2023, which led to a disastrous Week 1 debut. Getting this extra bit of work in with his teammates could better set him up for success heading into the 2024 NFL season.

The Chiefs also have a decision to make on Toney soon. The deadline to pick up his fifth-year option is coming up on May 2 as a former first-round draft pick by the New York Giants in 2021. K.C. is not expected to pick up the option that would pay him $14.3 million in 2025, but it doesn’t hurt to paint himself in a favorable light before that decision comes to pass.

Other players spotted for this throwing session include Montrell Washington, Anthony Miller, Noah Gray, Cornell Powell, and Nikko Remigio.
