<\/p>\nA pair of former\u00a0\u201cDancing with the Stars\u201d\u00a0contestants revealed some juicy details about struggles they encountered early in their marriage.\u00a0Carlos and Alexa PenaVega\u00a0admitted they had not done a good job of setting boundaries early on, and it caused a major miscommunication at one point.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what you need to know:<\/p>\n
Alexa and Carlos\u00a0shared the story on the March 27 episode of\u00a0\u201cThe Unplanned Podcast.\u201d\u00a0She mentioned that she had a role on a television show soon after she and Carlos married.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo I was on this show that I actually loved. The character was awesome. I was super proud of it. Gave me a lot of really great stuff to work with,\u201d Alexa explained.<\/p>\n
When she started the role, her character was a villain. There was no romantic aspect involved at all. A few episodes into filming, however, Alexa was told her character would have a romantic interest.<\/p>\n
The co-star who would play that romantic interest was a good personal friend of both Alexa and Carlos. She noted it was an awkward situation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s history there of just a friendship\u2026We\u2019re buddies. So now I have to kiss my buddy\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
Alexa believed she needed to call Carlos to let him know the situation. The two had just gotten married, and they had not discussed what they would be okay with for one another in situations like these.<\/p>\n
She also noted this happened \u201cEarly on in our walk with our faith.\u201d<\/p>\n
The show was on the CW, so it wasn\u2019t \u201craunchy,\u201d Alexa noted. However, it was \u201ca very intimate scene\u201d and much steamier than one would usually see in a Hallmark movie.<\/p>\n
Carlos was in Colombia touring with Big Time Rush as this all played out. Alexa recalled his reaction was intense. She explained, \u201cHe\u2019s like, \u2018You\u2019re not doing that.’\u201d<\/p>\n
During the call, Alexa explained the scene ahead where she was supposed to kiss her co-star. She asked Carlos if he wanted to be told about those scenes before they were filmed or after.<\/p>\n
Carlos shared he told her, \u201c\u2018Well, before, obviously, like, I want to know before.\u2019 And she goes, \u2018Okay, well, I had one yesterday and I have one tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n
Upon hearing that, Carlos admitted, \u201cI literally died.\u201d<\/p>\n
Alexa added, \u201cHe started crying. Because he was, like, you cheated on me.\u201d<\/p>\n
His reaction confused her, Alexa admitted. Carlos added, \u201cAnd I\u2019m like, \u2018You should have told me that you had one yesterday. You didn\u2019t tell me that you made out with this dude on camera.’\u201d<\/p>\n
After the call, Carlos was in his hotel room \u201cbawling.\u201d When a friend checked in on him, Carlos recalled it felt like \u201cThe world was over\u201d and insisted he couldn\u2019t perform that night.<\/p>\n
Carlos \u201cmanned up\u201d and still performed, though. Two or three days later, he recalled, he flew \u201cStraight to Canada after the tour to meet her. On set. And the next.\u201d<\/p>\n
Once Carlos got to Canada to see Alexa and their friend in person, \u201cWe have a great little night together and life is good.\u201d Carlos added that after that, \u201cWe\u2019re back, you know, like, we\u2019re just connected again.\u201d<\/p>\n
That wasn\u2019t the last challenge of that kind, though. Soon after that night, Alexa told Carlos she had a scene where she needed to wear lingerie and \u201cbasically straddle\u201d her co-star.<\/p>\n
Carlos recalled he told her, \u201cNo, you can\u2019t do it,\u201d even though the scene was supposed to be filmed that day. \u201cThen we got into another big fight,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n
He shared, \u201cBasically, after that experience and that roller coaster of emotions, we just set boundaries. And it was like, what are you okay with?\u201d<\/p>\n
The Big Time Rush star also admitted that at the time, he didn\u2019t understand how different on-camera kissing was from real-life, romantic kissing. \u201cI didn\u2019t know these things,\u201d Carlos confessed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
