Erika Jayne\u00a0addressed speculation that she joined the\u00a0Real Housewives of Beverly Hills\u00a0knowing about her husband\u00a0Tom Girardi\u2019s money scandal, and revealed how she and Tom began their romance.<\/p>\n

In 2020, Erika left Tom amid accusations that he\u00a0embezzled millions\u00a0of dollars from his clients.<\/p>\n

Speaking on\u00a0Bravo\u2019s Hot Mic Podcast, Erika addressed the theory that she came on the show knowing about the\u00a0money scandal.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou gotta be crazy [to do that]. It would be so much easier to have been quiet and wealthy over there,\u201d she explained. \u201cIt just would have been a really bad legal story \u2014 as opposed to putting yourself out there on \u2018Housewives\u2019 and everything else that comes with it, over and over and over again, and not being able to get away from it.\u201d<\/p>\n

She then shared one of her \u201clowest times.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI was going in to pick up one of my antidepressant prescriptions at the CVS and walking by my face on the cover of \u2014 I don\u2019t know which [outlet] it was that said \u2014 \u2018How did she blow $25 million?’\u201d shared Erika. \u201cI knew I recognized the face, that was me. And I thought, my god it had really become something else. And unless you do really TV shows, you really don\u2019t know what it\u2019s like.\u201d<\/p>\n

Erika compared it to castmate\u00a0Kyle Richards\u00a0facing her marital issues in the public eye.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is happening, you guys,\u201d said Erika. \u201cI remember just being cornered in a f**king ugly stairwell and just being, you know, asked all these questions on my day off, just trying to go to the grocery store. And it just doesn\u2019t feel good.\u201d<\/p>\n

She claimed this is one reason why she and\u00a0Lisa Rinna\u00a0are so close, because they understand what it\u2019s like to have it \u201chard\u201d as \u2018Housewives.\u2019<\/p>\n

Erika also took a swing at her critics.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I see someone that\u2019s very interested in others, but very protective of theirs, what are you masking?\u201d she asked. \u201cOr you\u2019re either masking something, or you have nothing. And I will remember that, and I will swing at you when I feel like I\u2019m ready. May not be today, may not be next year, but \u2014 cause that s**t hurts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Addressing her past, Erika said she couldn\u2019t \u201cmake it\u201d as a performing artist in New York City, as she was \u201cdivorced\u201d with a \u201csmall child.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWith my family\u2019s support, I moved to Los Angeles. People think I up and left. That\u2019s not true,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s a game of attrition. There\u2019s so many no\u2019s. You have to stick it out till you get the one yes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Once in LA, Erika got a job at a Beverly Hills restaurant called Chasen\u2019s, where stars, entertainers and dignitaries frequented.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe second version of Chasen\u2019s \u2026 had investors, and one of those investors happened to be a man, a lawyer named Tom Girardi, who I waited on. He was very kind,\u201d said Erika. \u201cEverybody loved Tom. He was a good customer. He was a good tipper. He was really sweet to the valet, to the bus boy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Erika said she knew Tom \u201cwell over a year\u201d before they even went on a date, and after their first date they were \u201cnever really apart.\u201d<\/p>\n

It began around Christmas time when Erika told him at the restaurant, \u201c\u2018Did you hear I was single?’\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe said \u2018no.\u2019 I said \u2018yeah.\u2019 He goes, \u2018Well do you want to go out to dinner?\u2019 And I said \u2018Yeah. Give me a call sometime.\u2019 And I wrote down my number,\u201d said the star. \u201cThe next call I receive is from his secretary Charlene \u2026 saying \u2018Can you meet Mr. Girardi for dinner tonight.\u2019 And I said, \u2018No I cannot. And if Mr. Girardi wants to take me out he can call me in advance himself. Thank you very much.\u2019 And I hung up the phone. I didn\u2019t hear from Tom.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Erika, he came to the restaurant a week later and told Erika she was \u201cignoring\u201d him and \u201cnot taking\u201d his calls.<\/p>\n

\u201cI said, \u2018No you haven\u2019t called me. You had your secretary call me.\u2019 He\u2019s like \u2018Well are we going to go to dinner or not?\u2019 I said \u2018Well this is what I was waiting for. Was you to ask me.\u2019 And we did,\u201d she continued. \u201cWe had a really nice time. And we just continued our relationship on from there.\u201d<\/p>\n

She said they got married within a year. At one point she told him that she just moved out of her place, and she needed to find an apartment.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe goes, \u2018Well you know there are a lot of bedrooms in this house. You could stay here until you figure it out if you\u2019re tired of sleeping on your friend\u2019s couch,’\u201d she said. \u201cI did \u2026 I think I stayed in [his guest] room for like three weeks till he was like, \u2018Now Erika, come on.’\u201d<\/p>\n

She kept her job as a cocktail waiter until Tom expressed that he didn\u2019t want her to work \u2013 that he wanted her to be with him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
