With Gilbert Arenas on the show,\u00a0DJ Vlad\u00a0<\/em>had to get his take on the \u2018Done with the 90s\u2019 trend. Because he once trashed that decade of basketball before the trend picked up albeit for different reasons. His opinion about the trend and\u00a0Michael Jordan\u00a0having no left is pretty much the same as other veterans. That is, a selective compilation of only the few bad parts don\u2019t prove anything. He, however, implies that discussing the 90s or past basketball stars is a waste of time for some obvious reasons.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m on both sides of it<\/em>,\u201d\u00a0Arenas says\u00a0about the Done with 90s trend. He does not buy into the propaganda defending the \u201990s stars from this trend. He slammed the \u201990s media for propagating claims like, \u201cIf Larry Bird had Michael Jordan\u2019s jumping ability he\u2019d be the best ever.<\/em>\u201d He proceeds to explain the big flaw in that plan. \u201cHow the f**k can you prove that?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Don\u2019t expect Arenas to fall into the trap of \u201cfake<\/em>\u201d narratives. He\u2019s not going to waste his \u201cbrain cells,\u201d\u00a0<\/em>as he so explicitly states, imagining Jordan playing in the current NBA, Shaquille O\u2019Neal playing longer, or today\u2019s players playing in the \u201990s. Because all of this is \u201cfantasy talk<\/em>\u201d and we won\u2019t ever truly know if things were different.<\/p>\n

So he\u2019s not putting blind faith in metrics, wins and records. Because the NBA he watched was different from the NBA he played in and the NBA now.<\/p>\n

The rules are different for Gilbert Arenas<\/h2>\n

In a 2023 episode of\u00a0Gil\u2019s Arena<\/em>,\u00a0Agent Zero\u00a0<\/em>called \u201990s NBA subpar for two reasons different from the current TikTok bandwagon. \u201cNobody could score, everybody fouling<\/em>.\u201d He highlighted that the league changed the rules to fix the prevalent issue of low-scoring games. More than six months in, his opinion hasn\u2019t changed but he\u2019s going a lot deeper into.<\/p>\n

For starters, he\u2019s very clear that he\u2019s from the \u201900s. He began his career in 2001 with the Warriors and was briefly Jordan\u2019s teammate in Washington before\u00a0His Airness\u00a0<\/em>retired. Similarly, he\u2019s played with and against several \u201990s stars. So he knows these players played a lot differently than what he watched over the past decade.<\/p>\n
