As the NFL Draft approaches next week, the question of what the Las Vegas Raiders will do in the first round is a hot topic around the league. Speaking on his annual pre-draft teleconference with media this week, draft expert Daniel Jeremiah, discussing his latest mock draft, said he sees University of Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. being selected by the Raiders at No. 13.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/sportsnaut.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/NCAA-Football-Washington-at-Oregon-State-21931155.jpg?w=788\" alt=\"Daniel Jeremiah Michael Penix Jr. NFL Draft Las vegas Raiders\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cPenix is my 34th player, I think, as of my last update,\u201d Jeremiah said of his player rankings entering the draft. \u201d Thirteen, that feels like it\u2019s a little rich, but I\u2019m like, I don\u2019t know if you told me that I\u2019ve got to move forward and I\u2019ve got Gardner Minshew, who I think is a quality two (backup) who can get you out of a game or two, but I don\u2019t you want him as your starter for the long term, and Aidan O\u2019Connell, who\u2019s shown some good things. To me, there\u2019s a huge talent gap there. Las Vegas doesn\u2019t have a true starter\u2014even with Minshew and a promising young player in O\u2019Connell., he said. The NFL Network analyst has been slotting Penix to the silver and black since March.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNumber one, the quarterback is the most important position on the team,\u201d he continued. \u201d (Las Vegas has to ask) Is there an option that we\u2019re picking that\u2019s better than what we\u2019re playing with?
