Alexia Echevarria\u00a0was reportedly \u201cblindsided\u201d by her estranged husband\u00a0Todd Nepola\u2018s\u00a0divorce filing\u00a0last week.<\/p>\n

After the 56-year-old\u00a0Real Housewives of Miami\u00a0cast member took to her Instagram Story on Monday to share that she was \u201cshocked and heartbroken,\u201d a couple of insiders have come forward, noting that Alexia is \u201churting\u201d and suspects the reason behind Todd\u2019s desire to dissolve their marriage has \u201ca lot to do with\u201d her two sons, Peter, 31, and Frankie, 26.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone is shocked. It\u2019s very surprising,\u201d a source told\u00a0Us Weekly\u00a0on April 17. \u201cAlexia loves hard. She is all about love, she is romantic in that respect. She is hurting right now \u2026 [She] loves Todd and is devastated \u2026 It all came as a shock.\u201d<\/p>\n

A second insider echoed similar sentiments.<\/p>\n

\u201cThings were good between her and Todd days leading up [to] him filing. She had no idea and there were no signs,\u201d the source shared. \u201cAlexia believes he wanted to keep her in the dark about how he was feeling about ending the marriage, because he knew she would try and convince him otherwise.\u201d<\/p>\n

As\u00a0RHOM\u00a0fans well know, Alexia shares two sons with ex-husband\u00a0Peter Rosello Sr., whom she was married to from 1992 to 1996, and Todd and Peter, Alexia\u2019s oldest child,\u00a0haven\u2019t always seen\u00a0eye-to-eye.<\/p>\n

Alexia believes the breakup \u201chas a lot to do with her sons,\u201d the insider stated. \u201cPeter tried to warn her\u00a0about him.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to a second report, Alexia and Todd\u2019s split could get messy when it comes to the dividing of their assets, despite the fact that they signed a prenuptial agreement before they wed.<\/p>\n

\u201c[There\u2019s a] presumption that everything is part of the community [and] split 50\/50,\u201d attorney\u00a0Neama Rahmani\u00a0told\u00a0Us Weekly\u00a0on April 17. But that\u2019s \u201cnot the case in Florida.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c[The] Florida presumption is that everything\u2019s held by a spouse individually [as] separate property that is their own,\u201d he explained. \u201cIn the event of a divorce, they get to keep it.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the attorney, what Alexia and Todd each get to keep after their split will be determined by whether or not they own their assets as individuals or as a couple. And when it comes to their current rental, which is said to be a $45,000 per month apartment, they\u2019ll both be \u201con the hook\u201d to continue making payments until their lease expires.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen it comes to the other assets, cars, bank accounts, you [have] to do that accounting to see [who gets what],\u201d Neama continued. \u201cIt\u2019s really called tracing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Neama went on to state that a family law judge will have to determine, \u201cWhat is the source of the funds? Is it my separate property that\u2019s going through an account, in which the money comes to me in the event of a divorce? Is it my separate property but I just commingle it? Or is that gifted to a spouse such that it ends up being shared?\u201d<\/p>\n

Amid the swirling reports regarding Todd\u2019s filing, Alexia returned to her Instagram Story with a second message for her fans and followers on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe outpouring love and support that I have received from all of you has truly warmed my heart. Thank you,\u201d she wrote in her April 17 post.<\/p>\n
