The\u00a0Golden Bachelor<\/em>\u00a0couple\u00a0Gerry Turner\u00a0and\u00a0Theresa Nist\u00a0are going their separate ways.<\/p>\n
After\u00a0three months of marriage, the couple announced\u00a0their decision to divorce\u00a0during a joint interview on\u00a0Good Morning America<\/em>, which aired on April 12, 2024 \u2014 the same day Turner\u00a0officially filed.<\/p>\n
“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation and so forth, and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage,” the reality star said on the show.<\/p>\n
The couple first met on season 1 of\u00a0The Golden Bachelor<\/em>\u00a0in August 2023 and ended their Bachelor journey by\u00a0getting engaged during the finale episode, which aired that November.<\/p>\n
A few months later, the two made their love official as\u00a0they tied the knot\u00a0during a live TV wedding special at the La Quinta Resort and Club in La Quinta, Calif., in January.<\/p>\n
Following their nuptials, the duo gave a handful of sweet glimpses of their love story, including ringing in holidays alongside each other and tuning into\u00a0The Bachelor<\/em>\u00a0together.<\/p>\n

After Turner was\u00a0named the first-ever Golden Bachelor\u00a0in July 2023,\u00a0filming for the show\u00a0officially commenced in August, where Turner and Nist first met. Throughout filming, the couple\u00a0shared many milestones together, including meeting each other\u2019s families and telling each other \u201cI love you\u201d for the first time.<\/p>\n

November 2, 2023: Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist\u2019s hometown date airs\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n
Turner and Nist took a big step in their relationship during\u00a0the hometown dates episode, when Turner met Nist\u2019s family in Shrewsbury, New Jersey. During the episode, the financial services professional revealed that Turner would be the first man to meet her family since her husband died, adding, \u201cIf there weren\u2019t real feelings here, I would not be bringing Gerry home to meet my family.\u201d<\/p>\n
He then met Nist’s daughter Jen, her husband Matt and their children, as well as her sisters Charlotte and Mary. Nist\u2019s sisters were impressed by Turner, and said he was a \u201cperfect fit\u201d for her.<\/p>\n

A few short weeks later, Turner and Nist finally went public with their relationship as\u00a0they got engaged\u00a0during the season finale on Nov. 30. Turner popped the question with\u00a0a gorgeous Neil Lane ring, which was a princess cut diamond accented with two baguette cut diamonds, and further set with 128 small, round brilliant cut diamonds for a total weight of 3.15 carats.<\/p>\n
Speaking with PEOPLE exclusively,\u00a0Turner and Nist opened up about their engagement\u00a0and their upcoming wedding, which Nist said her daughters were \u201cso involved\u201d in planning. They also revealed that Turner asked\u00a0his son-in-laws\u00a0to be his best men and Nist\u2019s daughter would be her maid of honor.<\/p>\n

December 2023: Gerry Turner talks about moving to Charleston to be with Theresa Nist<\/span><\/h2>\n
After getting engaged on the\u00a0Golden Bachelor<\/em>, the couple revealed to PEOPLE that\u00a0they planned on moving to Charleston, S.C., with Turner noting how \u201cfate played a hand\u201d in the decision.<\/p>\n
“For the last couple of years, when my family gets together, I’ve talked about moving to South Carolina, and it’s an idea I’ve toyed with,” Turner said. “And then in conversation with Theresa, a private moment, she’s saying, \u2018Well, yeah, my son lives near Charleston in South Carolina.\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd all of a sudden it’s like, there’s a big problem that is gone,\u201d Turner added. \u201cThe issue of compromising on where to live and how to reconcile families and all of that is, it’s no longer an issue.\u201d<\/p>\n

In December 2023, a month after the\u00a0Golden Bachelor<\/em>\u00a0aired,\u00a0the couple made their red carpet debut\u00a0as they attended an event for the series. While walking the red carpet, Nist showed off her ring as she rested her hand on Turner\u2019s chest for photos.<\/p>\n

Later that month, Turner and Nist spent New Year\u2019s Eve together as they rang in 2024. During a live, televised ceremony,\u00a0officiated\u00a0by\u00a0Golden Bachelor\u00a0<\/em>contestant\u00a0Susan Noles,\u00a0Turner and Nist said \u201cI do\u201d\u00a0at the La Quinta Resort and Club in La Quinta, Calif. Before exchanging vows, Noles addressed the couple, saying that she believed that \u201cfate\u201d brought them together, adding, \u201c30,000 people and you were both chosen to be on the\u00a0Golden Bachelor<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYou have both given us all so much hope that it is never, ever too late to find love,\u201d she shared.<\/p>\n
Before their big day, Turner and Nist opened up to PEOPLE about\u00a0finally getting their dream wedding\u00a0in the 70s. \u201cSee, you\u2019ve got to remember, Theresa didn’t get \u2014 her first time around, she didn’t have much time to plan and really, I didn’t either,\u201d Turner said, referring to Nist\u2019s first marriage to her childhood sweetheart Billy.<\/p>\n

January 28, 2024: Theresa Nist reveals she\u2019s planning their honeymoon<\/span><\/h2>\n
In an Instagram post shared in late January 2024, Nist revealed that\u00a0she was busy planning her honeymoon with Turner. Alongside picturesque photos of Italy, she wrote, \u201cHaving so much fun planning and dreaming about our honeymoon in May to Italy\u2026flying into Rome, spending a few days in Tuscany and then heading down to Sorrento and the Amalfi coast. I\u2019ve been to Italy twice, once when I was 18, and again to visit my daughter when she studied abroad there. I can\u2019t wait to experience it with Gerry!\u201d<\/p>\n
Turner previously told PEOPLE that he was letting Nist take the reins when it came to planning their special trip as a married couple. \u201cTheresa’s a really good planner,\u201d he gushed. \u201cSo when it comes to vacations, this is one thing I’m looking forward to is, we’ll agree on a budget, she can plan and I just show up the first day.\u201d<\/p>\n

As Turner and Nist celebrated their first Valentine\u2019s Day as a married couple,\u00a0Nist posted a heartfelt video\u00a0which featured throwback footage from their wedding day. \u201cWishing everyone a lovely valentine\u2019s day \ud83d\udc95\ud83d\udc95\ud83d\udc95\ud83d\udc95,\u201d she wrote, tagging Turner in the post.<\/p>\n

After cheering on\u00a0Joey Graziadei\u00a0at home during his season of\u00a0The Bachelor<\/em>, the couple publicly showed their support as they attended the live taping of the season finale in March.<\/p>\n
The pair was all smiles at the event, which occurred just\u00a0a few weeks before their divorce announcement. “It was so much fun getting to see everyone last night! I really loved watching Joey\u2019s season,” Nist captioned the\u00a0carousel of photos, which featured selfies with season 28\u2019s Maria Georgas and Rachel Nance. “What an impressive cast, all classy, smart, amazing people and such an overall great production. What a show it was!”<\/p>\n

During a joint interview with\u00a0Good Morning America<\/em>, Turner and Nist publicly announced that\u00a0they were divorcing\u00a0after three months of marriage.<\/p>\n
“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation and so forth, and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage,” Turner said during the interview.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Nist added, “We have received so much love and support from so many people who watch the\u00a0Golden Bachelor<\/em>\u00a0and I don’t think we can tell you how many people told us it gave them so much hope.\u201d<\/p>\n
When asked what caused their split, they both pointed to long distance. He lives at his lake house in Indiana while she is based out of New Jersey. Though they had previously expressed plans to move to South Carolina, Nist noted that never panned out. \u201cWe looked at home after home, but we never got to the point where we made that decision,” she said.<\/p>\n
Despite their split, they noted that they are “best friends” and plan on staying in one another’s lives. \u201cI still love this person. There\u2019s no doubt in my mind, I still am in love with her. I root for her every day,\u201d Turner said, pointing to Nist who gushed, \u201cI still love him.\u201d<\/p>\n
