The series, which premiered in 2005, pairs celebrities with professional dancers. The couples then compete against each other for judges\u2019 points and audience votes. The pair with the lowest combined judges\u2019 points and audience votes is eliminated each week until only one champion remains. That couple is declared the winner and receives the coveted Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.<\/p>\n

The show has featured several major basketball stars, but so far, only one female player has competed.\u00a0Arike Ogunbowale competed on\u00a0Dancing With the Stars: Athletes\u00a0<\/em>back in 2018 and was partnered with Gleb Savchenko. Sources told the\u00a0Daily Mail<\/em>\u00a0that the show was \u201cbending over backwards\u201d to try and cast the 22-year-old basketball star on Season 33, but Clark has \u201crespectfully declined\u201d the offer.<\/p>\n

Clark had a standout year this year and broke the NCAA\u2019s all-time scoring record in March 2024. She was then selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WBNA draft for the Indiana Fever. The University of Iowa basketball star also made her\u00a0primetime television debut during an April 2024 episode of\u00a0Saturday Night Live<\/em>, in which she roasted Michael Che during Weekend Update.<\/p>\n

Given her rapid rise to fame, it comes as no to surprise to learn that ABC wanted Clark to take part in Season 33 of\u00a0Dancing With the Stars<\/em>. \u201cEvery single offer you could get has been thrown her way,\u2019 an insider told the\u00a0Daily Mail.<\/em>\u00a0The source added that Clark will instead pursue \u201cother opportunities\u201d following her first WNBA season, which kicks off on May 3.<\/p>\n

While fans not be seeing her on the dance floor, she may appear on their screens in a different way. \u201cShe\u2019s not opposed to doing reality shows, but\u00a0DWTS<\/em>\u00a0is not going to be on the table much to the chagrin of ABC, as they really wanted her and would have bent over backward to get her for the show,\u201d the source continued. \u201cBut it just isn\u2019t going to happen.\u201d The insider noted that Clark is interested in appearing on\u00a0Celebrity Family Feud<\/em>\u00a0or\u00a0The Masked Singer<\/em>, adding: \u201cShe will cross that bridge if presented.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for who will compete on Season 33, the source hinted that some Olympic athletes might be coming on board. \u201cWhoever makes a considerable impact during the Olympics will be asked 100 per cent to be a part of the show,\u201d they stated.<\/p>\n

Dancing With the Stars<\/em>\u00a0has featured plenty of Olympic athletes over the years, including Simone Biles, Nastia Liukin, Johnny Weir and Nancy Kerrigan, among others.
