<\/p>\nough \u201cDancing with the Stars\u201d\u00a0judge\u00a0Derek Hough\u00a0and his wife\u00a0Hayley Erbert\u00a0are back on tour and just performed in a very special location. The \u201cSymphony of Dance\u201d show performed in Virginia on April 24 and the audience contained some truly special guests.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what you need to know:<\/p>\n
On April 22,\u00a0Hough talked with WTOP News\u00a0about the Virginia performance. The show was the first performance in the area for Hough and Erbert since she\u00a0experienced a medical emergency\u00a0during a show in December 2023.<\/p>\n
As the couple performed in Oxon Hill, Maryland at the MGM National Harbor in December, Erbert felt disoriented. She was taken to the hospital and doctors determined she needed an emergency craniotomy.<\/p>\n
A burst blood vessel caused Erbert to experience a cranial hematoma. The couple remained in the Washington, D.C. area for several weeks, until after\u00a0Erbert had a second surgery.<\/p>\n
\u201cGoing back to that area is so special to us,\u201d Hough explained of the Virginia performance. \u201cI really wanted our doctor at the hospital who performed both of Hayley\u2019s surgeries to come see a show,\u201d the \u201cDancing with the Stars\u201d judge added.<\/p>\n
Erbert and Hough wanted \u201cto thank him and all of the nurses and the staff, but also just the city, the people \u2014 to come to a show so we could actually give our hearts to them as they did for us.\u201d<\/p>\n
After the show, Hough and Erbert posed with Dr. Mai and other special guests for photos.<\/p>\n
The \u201cDancing with the Stars\u201d veteran shared the shots on\u00a0his Instagram page\u00a0along with a special note. \u201cThank you from the bottom of our hearts for the exceptional care and expertise you provided in saving Hayley\u2019s life,\u201d Hough wrote.<\/p>\n
Hough continued, \u201cYour dedication and skill have not only given her a second chance but have touched us all deeply.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also gave Dr. Mai a \u201cspecial thanks.\u201d Hough praised the surgeon\u2019s \u201cprecision and attentiveness\u201d during Erbert\u2019s surgeries, noting they were \u201cnothing short of remarkable.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSharing our show with you was a small token of our immense gratitude and a way to honor the meaningful work you do every day,\u201d Hough added. \u201cWe are forever thankful.\u201d<\/p>\n
In addition, Hough shared a short video he recorded after the Virginia show\u00a0via his Instagram Stories. \u201cWhat an absolutely beautiful night here in Tysons, Virginia, in this gorgeous theater, just so special.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added that it was \u201cSo magical having all the doctors and nurses from MedStar Washington, um, was just so amazing. We just couldn\u2019t be more thankful. We did it.\u201d Hough continued, \u201cWe came back, we conquered\u2026Let the beautiful story continue.\u201d<\/p>\n
Erbert shared the photos taken after the show on\u00a0her Instagram Stories too. She wrote \u201cForever grateful\u201d on the one with the group of doctors and nurses who cared for her.<\/p>\n
She wrote, \u201cThe man who saved my life. My surgeon, Dr. Mai,\u201d to caption the photo showing her with Mai and Hough.<\/p>\n
In speaking with WTOP News before the performance, Hough explained why he and Erbert wanted to return to the area to perform again.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are so thankful for MedStar Washington Hospital and the city itself, the beauty of it and the people, the people who came up to us in the streets and the coffee shops just wishing their best for us and wishing Hayley her health.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hough continued, \u201cIt was a crazy experience \u2026 Dr. Jeffrey Mai (is a) great man. We\u2019ll never forget this guy. He\u2019s on our cellphone. We call him regularly \u2014 always checking in.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
