However, even though he spent a year away from football, there\u2019s still speculation he might return for one more season.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/GettyImages-1916145038.jpg?quality=65&amp;strip=all&amp;w=780\" alt=\"Mark Davis Has Message for Antonio Pierce After Raiders Finale\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Las Vegas Raiders\u00a0would be the logical landing spot for Brady. He\u2019s supposed to be getting an\u00a0ownership stake\u00a0in the team and is close with owner Mark Davis. After the team drafted\u00a0Brock Bowers\u00a0in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, many noted that the Bowers-Michael Mayer\u00a0tandem is similar to the Rob Gronkowski-Aaron Hernandez duo that Brady had a lot of success with.<\/p>\n<p>That could make the Raiders even more appealing to the legendary quarterback. While he doesn\u2019t think it\u2019s going to happen, ESPN\u2019s Dan Graziano won\u2019t completely rule out the idea<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really went back and forth on this one, but I settled on \u2018likely not happening.\u2019 What Brady said a few weeks ago reminded me of way back when I was covering the Yankees: Roger Clemens would join in midseason because the pitcher felt like he was too old to manage his way through a whole season,\u201d Graziano wrote in an\u00a0April 27 column. \u201cCould you imagine Brady doing something like that? I kind of can. But Brady is all about preparation and I also can\u2019t see him jumping into a season without his usual offseason routine to prepare.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan we completely rule this out? Somewhat astoundingly, no. But if I had to guess, which I do here, I\u2019m guessing it\u2019s more likely not to happen. He mentioned the Raiders as a team he\u2019d\u00a0possibly be interested\u00a0in if he were to return.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not opposed to it,\u201d Brady said on the\u00a0April 11 episode\u00a0of \u201cDeepCut with VicBlends\u201d when asked about a possible NFL return.<\/p>\n<p>Brady is going to be 47 when the 2024 NFL season starts so it\u2019s still unlikely he returns. George Blanda is the only former quarterback who was older than Brady when he retired. However, he made his last start as a quarterback when he was 42 and mostly played kicker when he was older. The team signed\u00a0Gardner Minshew\u00a0in free agency and had\u00a0Aidan O\u2019Connell\u00a0start 10 games last season. According to general manager Tom Telesco, the plan is for those two to compete for starting quarterback.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs I sit here right now, that\u2019s it,\u201d\u00a0Telesco said\u00a0when asked if he expects Minshew and O\u2019Connell to compete for the starting quarterback job during his April 26 media availability.<\/p>\n<p>This was likely not the Raiders\u2019 ideal plan heading into the offseason but there were too many teams that needed quarterbacks this offseason.
