T<\/em>he Golden Bachelor<\/em>‘s\u00a0Susan Noles\u00a0and\u00a0Kathy Swarts\u00a0think\u00a0Gerry Turner\u00a0and\u00a0Theresa Nist\u00a0deserve privacy as they navigate\u00a0their divorce.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all feel like we want to know more we should know more, they owe us more,\u201d Swarts, 70, said on the April 19 episode of the\u00a0Bachelor Happy Hour: Golden Hour<\/em>\u00a0podcast, which she cohosts with Noles, 67.<\/p>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cI\u2019m kind of with\u00a0Ben Higgins\u00a0on this,” she continued. “Do we really have a right to know more? I don\u2019t think so. I think that what they did had to be so hard publicly, to do it all publicly and you know, for that, I admire their courage.”<\/p>\n
<\/div>\n
Swarts pointed out that Nist, 70, and Turner, 72, put themselves out there in a major way on the inaugural season of\u00a0The Golden Bachelor<\/em>.<\/p>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cThese two did something very different than most people do,\u201d she said. \u201cThey met in public, they dated in public, they got engaged in public, they got married in public and they\u2019re now getting divorced in public.\u201d<\/p>\n

Noles then urged\u00a0Bachelor<\/em>\u00a0Nation to be kind to Nist and Turner at this time.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe watched them fall in love and I cannot deny that that wasn’t real,\u201d said Noles, who\u00a0officiated\u00a0the live, televised\u00a0Golden Wedding. \u201cI believe it was real and they got caught up in a moment. Who are we to judge anybody out there? Who are we to judge? As I made a statement a couple days ago, it\u2019s about being kind. Yes, I know the public, everybody was disappointed. We all are. But they have their reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/div>\n
Noles doubled down on the fact that, when she watched Nist and Turner say \u201cI do,\u201d it felt real.<\/p>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cI did marry them in front of 11 million people and when I watched them say those vows, they meant what they said,\u201d the TV personality emphasized. \u201cSo this isn\u2019t a fake. I mean, a lot of people have different opinions. It was real. It was very, very real. And you have to admit that at 70-something years old, when reality hit and they had their discussions that it wasn’t going to work and they\u2019re not going to waste their time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Swarts pointed out that, because the network didn\u2019t know how\u00a0The Golden Bachelor<\/em>\u00a0would perform with audiences, the first season had a shorter run than a typical\u00a0Bachelor<\/em>\u00a0or\u00a0Bachelorette<\/em>\u00a0season, which led to less time for Turner to get to know all of\u00a0his suitors.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverybody had less time together to get to know everyone and then you know, they didn\u2019t get to see each other very much,\u201d Swarts said of Nist and Turner. \u201cIt was really like, it was like speed dating. And maybe they regret what they did \u2014 clearly it didn\u2019t work out \u2014 but let\u2019s just let them live.”<\/p>\n

Swarts stated that because she and Noles \u201clived this romance\u201d with Nist and Turner, \u201cit\u2019s difficult\u201d to watch them break up.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut they deserve the respect and the space to try to heal,\u201d Swarts continued to Noles. \u201cAnd I know when you and I talked about, at the wedding, I mean, we were sitting there crying, watching them and we were just so happy and quiet honestly, you and I both were envious that they had fallen in love.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Swarts understood \u201cwe all believe in fairy tales,\u201d she recognized, \u201cLife is not always a fairy tale.\u201d<\/p>\n

Still, that didn\u2019t lessen her belief that love can be found on TV. \u201cWe believe in the show,\u201d Swarts said. \u201cWe believe in finding love. And OK, it didn\u2019t work out this time, but you know, hopefully the next time it will.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nist and Tuner announced on\u00a0Good Morning America\u00a0<\/em>Friday, April 12, that they\u2019d be ending their marriage after three months due to disagreements over where they would live. (Nist hails from New Jersey, while Turner resides in Indiana.)<\/p>\n

“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation and so forth, and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage,\u201d the retired restaurateur said.<\/p>\n
<\/div>\n
Nist, a financial services professional, added that she and Turner looked for homes together \u201cbut we never got to the point where we made that decision.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/div>\n
As a result, Turner declared, “We feel like it’s best for the happiness of both of us to live apart.”<\/p>\n
