This decision could shape the team&#8217;s future on the offensive line.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images2.minutemediacdn.com\/image\/upload\/c_crop,w_2432,h_1368,x_0,y_539\/c_fill,w_700,f_auto,q_auto,g_auto\/images\/ImagnImages\/mmsport\/si-temp\/01hwktynje6waay5c7n6\" alt=\"Jackson Powers-Johnson Always had a Special Connection With the Raiders\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Powers Johnson is considered one of the better offensive linemen, as many thought he would be a late first-round draft pick in this year&#8217;s draft class.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday night, the\u00a0media had the chance to talk to Powers-Johnson after being selected with the 44th overall pick in the second draft round.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"m-in-content-ad-row\">\n<div class=\"m-in-content-ad\">\n<div class=\"slot-box-marker slot-box-marker-ad\" data-slot-type=\"hb\" data-hb-dup-id=\"4\" data-lazy-loaded=\"true\">\n<p>He had the chance to\u00a0talk to the media and mention that he has always had a connection with the Silver and Black and even played in Allegiant Stadium in the 2023 PAC 12 Championship against the Washington Huskies.<\/p>\n<p>Powers-Johnson was able to share his connection with the Raiders when growing up with his family and even playing in Allegiant Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Yeah, a wrap-around, full-circle moment. My grandparents are from the Bay Area and\u00a0grew up with huge Raiders fans. So my great grandparents and my grandparents grew up having season tickets for 20 years with the Raiders. Huge Raider fans there. And then also, my first-ever game, going to the 49ers-Raiders, going to that game, and the first-ever NFL game started the dream for me. And as I said, again, it was\u00a0a full circle moment. And getting to play at Allegiant Stadium was different there.\u00a0Hopefully, we\u00a0are going to win a lot of games there.\u00a0I scored a touchdown there, so it&#8217;s a special place for me there, and I&#8217;m so excited to play there as many Sundays as possible.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cloudfront-us-east-1.images.arcpublishing.com\/advancelocal\/3IQWJFOICNBIPOPI6TPEKC4JCQ.jpg\" alt=\"Oregon center Jackson Powers-Johnson selected by Las Vegas Raiders with No.  44 pick in NFL draft - oregonlive.com\" \/><\/p>\n<aside class=\"m-in-content-ad-row\">\n<div class=\"m-in-content-ad\">\n<div class=\"slot-box-marker slot-box-marker-ad\" data-slot-type=\"hb\" data-hb-dup-id=\"4\" data-lazy-loaded=\"true\">\n<p>Along with growing up around\u00a0the Raiders, Powers-Johnson has an extensive wrestling background.<\/p>\n<p>He also had the chance to share how his wrestling background translates to his game as an offensive lineman.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Wrestling was a huge part of my life.\u00a0Definitely\u00a0translates into leverage, physicality, and also just straight mental toughness. Wrestling is the hardest sport, so doing that to prepare for football and getting that mentality from wrestling is huge for me.
