<\/p>\nBoy George\u00a0met his hero\u00a0Muhammad Ali\u00a0at a nightclub, long before the Culture Club singer was famous.<\/p>\n

In a recent\u00a0interview on the\u00a0Graham Norton Show<\/em>, the 62-year-old singer told\u00a0Graham Norton,\u00a0Greta Lee,\u00a0Sarah Snook\u00a0and\u00a0Miriam Margolyes\u00a0that he met Ali in a nightclub, when George was younger and known around London \u201cfor dressing up\u201d and \u201cbefore\u201d he was famous.<\/p>\n \u201cI felt I was more famous than I was,” George, whose real name is George O’Dowd, joked as he began the story.<\/p>\n \u201cMy dad loved Muhammad Ali. We had a picture of Muhammad Ali next to a picture of the Pope,” the “Karma Chameleon” singer said. \u201cThat’s how important it was in our family.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSo I crawled through all the security and I was like full on like, like in total drag. I was like, \u2018Oh my God, my dad loves you. Like we’ve got a picture of you on a mirror in our hallway,\u2019\u201d George recalled of that night in a nightclub. After making it past security, George managed to exchange some complimentary words with Ali.<\/p>\n \u201cHe looked at me and goes, \u2018Are you a girl or boy?\u2019” George recalled. “And I said, \u2018I’m a boy.\u2019 And he goes, \u2018You’re a very pretty boy.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n George told Norton, 60, and the other guests that he told Ali, \u201c\u2018Oh my God I can\u2019t wait to tell my dad.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMy dad was furious and [said] \u2018Oh my God you showed me right up,\u2019\u201d George said.<\/p>\n George continued to compliment the late boxer and said how important he still is to him.<\/p>\n \u201cI love Muhammad Ali,” George said. “Even to this day, it’s the one thing me and my dad agreed on. The man was a genius and a prophet and the most spiritual. I love him so much.\u201d Ali died in June 2016 at the age of 74. He publicly announced his\u00a0diagnosis with Parkinson’s disease\u00a0in 1984.<\/p>\n In 2021, George announced he is working on a\u00a0biopic feature film about his life, titled\u00a0Karma Chameleon<\/em>.<\/p>\n The biopic will be written and directed by Sacha Gervasi and will explore George’s childhood growing up in Ireland.
