The\u00a0RHONJ\u00a0<\/em>cast member spent the better part of a year behind bars at the Federal Correctional Institute in Danbury, Connecticut.<\/p>\n

Years before she married\u00a0Luis “Louie” Ruelas\u00a0or sent her daughters\u00a0Gia Giudice\u00a0or\u00a0Gabriella Giudice\u00a0to college,\u00a0Teresa Giudice\u00a0spent\u00a0some time in prison.<\/p>\n

Back in 2014,\u00a0The Real Housewives of New Jersey<\/em>\u00a0cast member and her first husband,\u00a0Joe Giudice, pled guilty to bank, mail, wire, and bankruptcy fraud. Both Teresa and Joe served out prison sentences, though the then-spouses were able to stagger them so one parent could always be present for their four daughters.<\/p>\n

How Long Was Teresa Giudice in Prison For?<\/h2>\n

Following her guilty plea, the mom of four was sentenced to 15 months in prison. However, Teresa was only actually behind bars in Danbury, Connecticut for 11 months.<\/p>\n

Teresa returned home shortly before Christmas, on December 23, 2015. Her emotional homecoming was captured by the\u00a0RHONJ<\/em>\u00a0cameras, and fans can refresh themselves on the tender moment when Teresa reunited with her daughters by\u00a0streaming the Season 7 premiere on Peacock.<\/p>\n

Teresa Giudice Cooked in Prison, and Started Doing Yoga<\/h2>\n

While she was serving her sentence at the Federal Correctional Institute in Danbury, Teresa continued cooking.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have to say, the food was really good,\u201d she said during an appearance on the\u00a0Hollywood Raw<\/em>\u00a0podcast in early 2024 about the food offering.\u00a0\u201cAnd I actually cooked there also because I\u2019m a cook.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prison was also the place where Teresa developed her passion for yoga.<\/p>\n

“When I went to jail, that\u2019s when I started doing yoga,” she revealed during a March 2023 interview with\u00a0Reality Blurb<\/em>.\u00a0“I just had to get my mind space clear because I was really upset that I was taken away from my daughters. So that’s when I started doing it… And when I came out of jail, I got certified in yoga because I loved it so much.”<\/p>\n

When the weather got warm, Teresa would meditate and do yoga outside.<\/p>\n

“I was at a camp facility, so we were able to go outside. And that\u2019s one thing I have to say, the grounds were so beautiful… and I would find a place and [meditate] there…” she added. “When it was spring and summer, [I’d meditate] in the grass.”<\/p>\n
